An RV Skylight Can Open Up A Cramped Area
The many benefits of a skylight in your home
are well documented. And if you have one you already know how
they can lower your bills, improve your mood and well being,
and just make the ambiance in the room more enjoyable. So why
stop with just having one in your home or office? Many people
are finding out that adding an RV skylight can
be just a beneficial.
Recreational vehicle skylights can come in many different
forms. Perhaps the most popular one simply mounts right on the
roof of an RV. These are easy to install either at the factory
or after your RV is already purchased. If you plan on doing it
yourself, your RV skylight will usually include everything you
need, but it won't hurt to check with a dealer or manufacturer
to make sure the kit is made for self installers. It's good to
know that these are generally also pretty easy to repair, and
replacement parts are not difficult to find.
There are some things you should make sure of if you will be
installing your own skylight. There's nothing worse than
spending your vacation time inside an RV that leaks while
sleeping on a moist mattress. Make sure it is completely
weatherproof before you take it on the road. Weather stripping
is usually included in most installation kits. For extra
protection it's a good idea to seal any seems with silicone,
but be sure not to put the silicone on parts designed to
move.
A second form of RV skylight installs on the side, on the
pullout portion of your RV. These will protect the skylight
from severe weather when not being used, but still allow for
plenty of natural light to filter in when you are using it.
You'll be amazed at how this light can actually open up what
seems to be cramped quarters. This natural light will make it
seem like you're outdoors even when you're not.
No matter which skylight you choose, you'll get the same
benefits in your recreational vehicle that you would expect to
get in your home or office.
